Making progress

So the painting of my new Western miniatures has made some progress this week. I have managed to get 3 decent painting sessions in. I have decided to try and paint in shorter bursts - I think the days of marathon 3 hour painting sessions are long gone. Nowadays 40 minute bursts are about right.
I have picked out 16 models to work on initially. I undercoated them black

And then put in the flesh - I always feel that once you get some skin colour on a model it starts to take on a bit of personality

I added in some base colours next. Lots of dark browns and lighter colours that will be faded and highlighted later. All my previous paintings have been of Games Workshop figures and following their painting guides. I have to admit to finding it liberating to be able to choose any paint schemes I like and I am really enjoying the freedom of not really knowing what they are going to look like at the end.
Today I tried to add more colour to the models and aim in the next couple of sessions to get all the base colours on and begin shading. I also intend to print off the rest of the cards needed to play the game and have a go at a game or two. Unfortunately school work is going to start creeping in but I am determined to keep trying to find time for me.
